  • Mild sun poisoning: persons having mild sun poisoning experience redness and some pain, they recover within 3-5 days. You may experience some peeling but it heels in some days.

Symptoms of Sun Poisoning and Its Duration

  • Redness: this is the first symptom that a person experiences after getting sun poisoned. Redness remains for some time. However, you can get rid of it by cool compression.
  • Itching: redness is followed by itching all over the body, mainly on the exposed areas. It is a way by which the body repairs itself from the damage caused due to the sun rays. It may last for several days and goes off automatically after the skin is healed.
  • Skin blisters: blisters are raised part of the skin. More often than not, blisters are also filled with a fluid. It’s bad to scratch them. These also last for some time and eventually get peeled off as the body is healed.
  • Exclamation Triangle
Flu And Fever: fever and flu are the worst part of skin poisoning and it indicates that the immune system is trying to fight the damage done to it by the sun. Fever is not good and if accompanied by chills, it should be given immediate medical attention. Dehydration indicates that your body has been severely damaged, you should immediately rehydrate yourself as soon as you experience this symptom as loss of water cannot be left untreated for longer durations of time.
